The Canvas Calculator

What size canvas do I need for print?

Tell it the size you want to print and it gives you the canvas to set up in Procreate. Or go the other way, and find out what the artwork you already have can print at.

Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you type is uploaded or saved.

Use whatever the printer or shop has asked for. If nobody has said, 300 is the usual choice for a print you hold in your hand.

Extra artwork past the trim line, so a slightly off cut doesn't leave a white sliver. 0.125 in or 3 mm is the usual amount.

Make this in Procreate

Create a new canvas at

2400 × 3000 px

  • Finished size8 × 10 in
  • Resolution300 DPI
  • OrientationPortrait

Pixels are always rounded up, never down, so nothing gets shaved off the edge.

Procreate will ask for a color profile. Choose sRGB unless the printer has told you otherwise.
